How our technology helps patients with brain diseases and spinal cord injuries

Did you know that there are more than 13,000 cases of stroke every year in Catalonia? Xartec Salut researchers are developing solutions for people with brain diseases or spinal cord injuries. 

The largest network of innovation research groups in Catalonia led by CREB UPC is launching a series of videos to introduce the main technologies developed by its groups. In this case you will connect with BIOMEC (CREB UPC), Ephion Health (Eurecat) and GAB Lab (IMB-CNM, CSIC). 

👉 Meet our teams:

🚶 BIOMEC. The Biomechanical Engineering Lab (BIOMEC) is a research group of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and one of the seven areas of the Research Centre for Biomedical Engineering (CREB). They develop multibody biomechanical models to analyse and simulate the dynamics of human movement, for clinical and sport applications as well as design personalised robotic devices for movement assistance and rehabilitation. ABLE Human Motion is their first spin-off.

📲 EPHION HEALTH. The platform to develop and deploy digital clinical measures for patient mobility. A pioneering start-up created by Eurecat, Hospital Sant Joan de Déu and The Collider. Ephion Health has already been clinically validated for the monitoring of neuromuscular diseases and is developing new products for multiple sclerosis, fragility and other mobility affecting conditions.

🔬 GAB Lab. Biomedical Applications Group lead by Doctor Rosa Villa. Placed at the Barcelona Microelectronics Institute (IMB-CNM, CSIC) and also belonging to the CIBER-BBN, the group takes advantage of the technological capacities available at the Clean Room of the IMB-CNM in order to provide novel solutions to different biomedical applications.
