The director of Xartec Salut, Alexandre Perera, and the director of the Doctoral School of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC), Josep Maria Font, have signed a collaboration agreement that frames the relationship between both parties for the promotion of entrepreneurship and training in tech transfer and innovation in health technologies.
The agreement regulates the terms of collaboration between Xartec Salut and the Doctoral School of the UPC. On the other hand, Xartec Salut will carry out during the year 2022 the “Entrepreneurship Academy”, with the aim of promoting entrepreneurship and technology transfer to the health sector, focused on doctoral students. A course that will be offered as a pilot to students of five doctoral programmes of the School free of charge (Statistics and Operations Research, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Mathematics, Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering).
The agreement is also an element to promote new shared actions over the coming years. “We will continue to work on the deployment of a broader programme from 2023, in which other doctoral schools from institutions belonging to Xartec Salut will also be able to participate,” said Alexandre Perera, director of the network.
In the same way, Xartec Salut is designing various open innovation activities to provide solutions to current challenges in the health sector. Among others, Xartec Salut will organise a Hackathon in the late 2022, which will involve different agents of the Catalan ecosystem, as well as the participation of students from the Doctoral School of the UPC.
“Synergies with platforms such as Xartec Salut are a priority to promote the value of research among our doctoral students,” said Josep Maria Font, director of the UPC Doctoral School.
